Cut-edge paintings: In 2008, I made my first cut-edge painting, Beauty and the Beasties. After exhibiting this work in Boston, I decided to push the designed edge further and break from the rectangle. In 2009, I made Flux, Lemon Spray, and The Flowering. These paintings are made on either handcut Mylar or lasercut Sintra. This year I finished In Between, also on lasercut Sintra.
Before I start the painting process, I spend 3-4 months designing the edges of the panels on the computer. Once the design is complete, I have the edges professionally laser cut. The design, preparation, and painting of this work is extremely labor intensive.
I'm currently working on a full-room, cut-edge painting/installation.

Cut-edge details: The paintings are quite large (except for "In Between," around 11 feet wide), and the surfaces are intricate. To get a better sense of the work, here are some detail images.
