fishing line

In June 2015 I spent a month in the Arctic Circle. For some of that time I was with twenty-eight other artists sailing northward along the west coast of Svalbard on an antique tall ship. We had a spectacular time working on the land at the glacier fronts, next to the icebergs, and hiking on the glaciers. During some of our landings we would collect the plastic that had washed ashore from the Atlantic Ocean: toothbrushes, combs, vast amounts of fishing nets, and fishing line. I brought home some of the fishing line and a large piece of net and have since been making hand-knotted “Arctic Drawings.”
